One of the unique aspects of Sunny Hills is that we do children’s Sunday school at the same time we do our adult worship service. So, families have a choice. Kids can join the adults, or have a Bible lesson for them “on their level,”

• KIDLight ages (grades K – 5) will be with the adults the whole time … usually our kids go to Sunday School while the adults are in the worship service.
• Our middle schoolers remain in the worship service the whole time … usually our middle school students leave after the singing to do a Bible study designed just for them.

Because the service is packed with kids and middle school students we do some things a little different:

• The pastor explains in simple terms some of the worship elements kids may not understand.
• Kids who want to are invited to sit on the front row.
• Kids who want to are invited to help out with the sermon. The sermon is more “active” and “participant oriented” on fifth Sundays. We often play games together or act out parts of the Bible story. The idea is to get kids involved in the sermon so they don’t think it’s too boring or whatever.
• Kids who want to are invited to help collect the offering.

Fifth Sunday services are fun, even more fun than our regular services. Why not give Sunny Hills Church a try this weekend … it’ll be different than what you’re used to, probably, but that’s not a bad thing.

Make some more money, that would be good. Begin that novel that’s been floating around in my head for a while.

If only I could actually make progress, you know, move past all the “want to’s” in my life and become even half of what I dream of becoming. Sometimes I feel so “stuck.” So busy with the routine of life that life is passing me by. Could somebody please help me discover REAL purpose and meaning in life.

Yes. Sunny Hills can help with that.

Being a part of a church family means having people to partner with to accomplish big things. One thing we like about sports, and we talk about sports a lot at Sunny Hills, is that it reminds us we have a coach (Jesus) and a playbook (the Bible) that helps us compete when life gets tough. We have team members that stand with us and help us get stronger.

Go team! Speaking of teams … we do have a church softball team in the spring, many of us enjoy running, hiking, playing racquetball, golf … we even had a turkey shoot in the fall. We enjoy competing and getting stronger together.

Sometimes, when you’re new to a place it helps to “hide” behind a coffee cup. So, feel free to come early (because, sadly, sometimes the donuts DO run out!) at 9:00 to get some snacks and meet some new friends.

Remember, we want our new friends to be comfortable and feel welcome. That’s why we NEVER introduce guests during the service or make people introduce yourself. You can come in, grab a donut, sit on the back row, and remain completely anonymous until you figure out we’re a safe place to investigate faith in Jesus Christ.

Many folks at Sunny Hills are new to the Christian faith and appreciate the beauty and joy that Jesus brings to life. Understanding the Bible helps us know Jesus better.

Want to go deeper in the Christian faith? We have in-depth Bible study each Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

• Upbeat, heavy guitar and drum lines.
• Intimate lyrics addressed directly to God. We don’t sing “about” Him, we offer our singing as a gift of worship to Him.
• Easy to sing arrangements. Key ideas repeat. If you don’t “get” the song right away, you’ll get the hang of it quickly.
• Projected lyrics instead of hymnal use. This frees us to sing without our heads being buried in a hymnal.

Singing at Sunny Hills is OPTIONAL. Some people just don’t like to sing in public, no problem. You can stand with us and just enjoy the music and praise team’s leadership.

What I like the most is the slider feature on the front page. It allows new visitors to get a quick sense of what our church is about. There are also links that help visitors discover how to become a christian. Our church membership class is also online.

The website passes the WC3 validator … which is a geeky thing I insisted upon.

Our personality is akin to blue jeans and sneakers. Comfortable. “Come as you are.” That kind of thing. When you attend a service here you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the service in a way that makes sense for you. Want another cup of coffee? Just get up, head out to the foyer, and refresh your cup. No problem. Be yourself … okay?

Sunny Hills Church is a collection of folk who know what it is to struggle … to search for significance, and discover the meaning and purpose of life. Jesus has called us together to be a reflection of His heart and character in our world.
