One thing I love about following Jesus is that He’s so practical. Jesus knows we’re hurting. Jesus can work in our lives. Jesus wants to lead you through these tough times.
What might happen if our nation, in our families, began, today, listening to the voice of God?
Deuteronomy 15:5-6, If only you give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, and take care to keep all these orders which I give you today. For the Lord your God will give you his blessing as he has said: you will let other nations have the use of your money, but you will not make use of theirs; you will be rulers over a number of nations, but they will not be your rulers.
I’ll bet you never thought God understood the worldwide credit market? As it stands today the USA is the biggest debtor nation in the world. China is the biggest creditor nation. When we get into deep trouble financially … what is the solution? The political answer is more debt! $850 billion … or more.
God’s promise is very different than this. When we listen to Him. Obey His principles. Place Him as a priority. Then the promise is that the credit markets will reverse. Money flowing out will begin flowing in.
It works on a individual family situation as well. A family that abandons the conventional wisdom of more credit, more debt, more spending and begins to live by Godly standards will experience the blessing of God … and their credit situation will reverse. As God disciplines us our family budget becomes healthy. Deficit spending is replaced by saving and generosity. Money flows in instead of flowing out.
Our nation’s answer to our tough times is found in these simple words: "If only you give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, and take care to keep all these orders which I give you today. For the Lord your God will give you his blessing as he has said."
