Our winner of the 2010 Charity Bowl Challenge is Byron, with 699 points. Only 8 points separated the top 3 finishers: Bryon (699), Woody (693), and Cameron (691). Fourth place was captured by Margie (663) and Zach surged with a late push into fifth with (607) points.
Congratulations to everyone who played. Here’s a few stats about this year’s challenge.
The best “sure thing” this year was the Hawaii Bowl, with 97 bonus points available. Byron (our winner!) and Woody (2nd place) correctly picked this as their sure thing with a Tulsa Pick.
“Random” had a GREAT year, with 18 of 32 correct picks, including getting ALL the 5 point bowls correct! Margie got 20 of 32 correct, the most of any player.
“Relay for Life” was the top charity. Others mentioned by players were the “Jimmy V Foundation,” “Young Life,” “Sunny Hills Church,” the “Presbyterian Children’s Home,” “Copper Crest Farms,” “Seamen’s Ministry,” and the “Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.”
The most difficult game to pick was the Holiday Bowl, with all players choosing Nebraska, who lost the game in a big upset to Washington, 7-19.
The easiest game to pick was the Fiesta Bowl with all players correctly picking Oklahoma to roll over Big East Champ, UConn, which they did, 48-20. Eight players picked Oklahoma as a “sure thing,” getting 68 bonus points. The BCS National Championship Game was also an obvious pick with all players, except Alan, choosing the winner, Auburn, who won on a last second field goal to Oregon, 22-19.
Thank you everyone for playing!
